Indonesian Clove

Clove (Syzigium aromaticum. L) is one of the strategic commodities in Indonesia. Plantations are managed by many people in Indonesia and mostly grown by family farms. These aromatic flowers is typically found in central and eastern parts of Indonesia, where it is harvested during the dry season months of June, July and August.


Clove is believed to originate from North Maluku because there is old clove plant that is considered oldest in the world where it has grown and produced since the days of imperialism. Cloves are one of the reasons the region is known as the Spice Islands.
